Barista Competition – The Italian Awards
This year, Italian Aroma Coffee are sponsoring the ‘Best Barista’ category of the Scottish Italian Awards. At Italian Aroma, we are passionate about coffee and understand the importance of quality and the competition only emphasised the skill and experience needed to create a perfect coffee.
Recently, we had a lot of fun hosting the barista competition of The Italian Awards. Baristas from seven different coffee shops and restaurants came to our roastery in Clydebank to compete for the title of ‘Best Barista’ in Scotland. These included:
- Alessio’s Café & Bistro, Glasgow
- Celino’s East End, Glasgow
- Mediterraneo, Glasgow
- O’Oliviero, Edinburgh
- Quattro Venti, Ayr
- La Lanterna, Glasgow
- Caffe Da Sara, Glasgow
Our judges Marco, Director of Italian Aroma, Ilirjan, co-founder of U-Roast, Kevin, Head Roaster at Italian Aroma and, special guest judge, Sylvania assessed the baristas both their presentation and technical skills. The finalists had to make two perfect espressos, cappuccinos and macchiatos in just ten minutes.
After an exciting competition Marco, Director of Italian Aroma, said that it will be difficult to pick a winner from the all the great finalists
“We had a great time hosting the barista competition for The Italian Awards It was interesting to see that everyone made their coffee in a very different way. This will be a very tough decision to make. “
All the finalists did a tremendous job in the competition and we are sure that they are all eagerly awaiting to see who will be crowned ‘Best Barista’ in Scotland. The Italian Awards final will take place, this Sunday, the 12th of November at the Hilton Glasgow. Until then have a look at our video to get a sneak peek of the barista competition.
